Portrait of a young boy

This charming portrait of a teenaged boy was likely commissioned to commemorate a special occasion. Dressed in a fashionable suit, complete with large steel buttons and a tricorn hat, the adolescent sitter was likely about to commence an apprenticeship that would define his later life, either in a trade or a profession, such as the law.
